6-hour chemical labs, 38 hours of lectures, tutorials, and labs a week, weekend-long group project meetings. Engineering at the University of Toronto had its challenges, opportunities and fun times. It would not be possible to do it all without learning a bit about organization, efficiency, cooperation, communication and most importantly finding a balance between work and lifestyle activities.

Xing Dance Theatre

My university days were brightened by dance. This immersive activity allowed me to let go of school related worries through physical exercise, reset, and be invigorated by artistic expression. People wonder where I found the time for it in the craziness of undergrad. But it gave me energy. It is amazing how more productive and focused I was after a session of dance.

I discovered a passion for programming in my first role going through hundreds of excel documents to find information at Advanced Orthomolecular Research, Calgary, AB. I found short VBA programs made my life much easier. The pivot from AOR to FDM Group, a recent-grad IT academy and talent contractor in Toronto, ON in 2019 was key to becoming a software developer.

Decidedly Jazz Danceworks

After a year contract at TD Bank, Toronto, ON as a QA engineer and while working as a software developer at Envirosoft, Calgary, AB, I continued my engagement in somatic practice. I found the vernacular jazz dance style taught in the DJD academy very social and open-ended, a welcome complement to the focus and critical thinking of programming.

Dreamed, designed and developed a multiplayer online collectible card game using Unity gaming engine, a myriad of AWS services (Cognito, IAm, DynamoDB, Lambda, Certificate Manager, CloudWatch, API Gateway, Route 53) available as a WebGL build on a react website hosted in S3 through CloudFront.
